Apply for LifeGene data

LifeGene welcomes research applications and request for withdrawals
The LifeGene resource:

LifeGene enables access to unique data and biosamples.  By the end of 2016 we had 50 799 participants in our database. More than 95 000 completed questionnairs, physical data as well as Biobank samples from more than 29 500 individuals and extracted DNA on approximately 25 000 participants available to researchers.

LifeGene invites scientists from all medical disciplines and behavioral sciences to apply for access to data and/or samples from LifeGene.

LifeGene is a national collaborative project designed to build up a resource for research in all medical disciplines, enabling new and groundbreaking research on the relationships among heredity, environment and lifestyle and its impact on health. The LifeGene project aims to include several hundred thousand Swedes mainly aged 0-50 with the aim of creating new tools to prevent, diagnose and treat our most common diseases.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria:

Applicants must be associated with a university or research institute based in Sweden. Due to the rare and depletable nature of the sample collection all applications for biological samples will be peer reviewed and prioritized on the basis of scientific and technical merit.  Final decision for access to samples and data will be by LifeGenes’ Data Access Commitee

How to Apply:

The application process will be a two-step procedure. The Letter of Intent will be used to check the availability of samples and data and the eligibility of the proposed study for access. All suitable projects will then be invited to submit a full application for review. At that point we encourage PI´s to apply for funding for their LifeGene research.

The application form and instructions can be found below as well as a description of the questionnaire, physical data and the available samples. The forms for Letters of intent should be sent to: nancy.pedersen@ki.se
